About Me

Kia-Ora, My name is Jaime Hetherington

I am half Maori (Ngati Paoa, Ngati Porou) on my Mums side, and of Irish descent on my Dads side

I live in Stonefields Auckland and have a daughter at high school.

Born and bred in South Auckland, attended Rosehill College, worked in the print industry until 2014 I completed studies to become an independant bookkeeping contractor - however in Jan 2025 after 3 years of constant migraines and no relief, I was diagnosed with a health issue where I needed to rethink my career - after a few months off work, after taking time to dig deep on how I can serve my community - on 09 Oct 2025 I sat up in bed and said out loud “I know what I’m going to do, I’m going to be a funeral celebrant” and I have not looked back since, in the first 4 months I officiated over 20 services and met some amazing families, who ‘just want everything to go perfect’

I have an uncle that has been a funeral director since before I was born, and he has been a great mentor in navigating the grief and bereavement space.

I’m now furthering my reach to become an end of life companion and whanau support to be a wrap around before, during and after death - advocating for families in a non-clinical role to provide, spiritual, cultural, emotional support where needed and providing options for family-led funerals to keep connections to our loved ones once they die, and also to give all the options to families in terms of keeping costs down at a time where the budget is not there - I also volunteer to our local hospice in the NODA campaign (No-one Dies Alone)

I am a Mum, a Daughter, a Sister, a Cousin, an Aunty, a Moko - just like you.
